Welcome to our project blogsite.  We will publish valuable information here and track our project.  I hope we can have some meaningful dialogue here as well.  This might include dialogue about the shape of our project, updates about work in our respective institutions, sharing or resources, and conversation about the topics of globalization and diversity in general.  If you have ideas for new conversations that you would like for me (Dan Ott) to initiate, I would be glad to do so.  I hope you will visit the site regularly.  I will do my best (with some student help) to keep the site fresh.

Thanks!

Dan

Philip Jenkins, author of The Next Christendom, will be the featured speaker at the Consultation on Globalization and Diversity held at St. Andrews Presbyterian College in Laurinburg, NC on April 19-21.  Dr. Jenkins will deliver the sermon at Laurinburg Presbyterian Church in morning worship on the 19th.  That evening he will join the globalization teams for a dinner and consultation.  The next day he will visit Dan Ott’s class on global Christianity and ecumenism (teams are invited to attend) and then give a lecture that evening (April 20).

This will set a good skeletal structure for our event.  Let’s discuss what else we would like to accomplish during this time and what meetings we should have.  We could possibly have some paper sessions among ourselves, have working sessions leading toward possible outcomes for the project, or have more informal discussions.  I scheduled the event for three days (through the 21st), but we can also discuss whether it would be better to fit what we need to do into the two days that Dr. Jenkins is in town.

Please chime in.
